The-Dream - “Sorry”
Well, Love King may be a huge disappointment, but I really really like this song. Its minimalism is so effective that it just totally crushes you. In a sense, it’s a sketch of a song, and I can easily see it being reworked or covered to great effect, but it’s completely gripping in its present form. It reminds me of the Bon Iver song “Woods:” also seemingly a curiosity, but ultimately more resonant than the surrounding material, as well as the heart of another great song (Volcano Choir’s “Still”). The line “If you’re in love, don’t you dare sing along with me” is so good; it’s this totally meta commentary on the role of the song undermining its lyrics because it’s the line you want you to sing along to the most, and it’s also the song’s most devastatingly honest moment. This is a great sort of deconstruction of The-Dream’s music, which usually takes these little revelations and turns them into glossy hooks. Most importantly, though, this song just feels the way it should, and, circumstances permitting, makes you want to sing along.
Want to know what it takes to be a star? The whole world of pop is comprised of four chords. check this shit out. amazing.
Wale - Pretty Girls ft. Gucci Mane, Weensey Of Backyard Band (via WaleVEVO)
Late Pass.

Not only founder of Cocaine City Records but a fairly fresh singer. He made his way by sellin street DVDs fixed with his music and interviews with the best and next. By 2009 his mixtapes had spread far and wide and the industry took notice. Aside from the fact that this man is the American dream, immigrating to America and working up from nothing to a whole lotta something.
Above, So High ft. Curren$y, was released back in May with his latest mixtape “Mac & Cheese 2,” which has a great collection of tight tunes ya don’t want to miss out on. You can pick up a couple of my favorite tracks below from him in general (which I strongly strongly advise).

Love The Way You Lie by Eminem ft. Rhianna
Eminem’s new album Recovery, dropped just four days ago on the 18th, has made more than a splash. As usual the talented lyricist was able to wrap up a couple tight tracks, this being one of them. However, there is quite a polarism on the album, tracks going from sympathizing to the human condition one second and then thugging up life the next (in lesser terms).
Fans who followed Eminem in the earlier days will be pleased with parts of the album, for there are songs that resonate his old sound. Yet, within a second, they may shudder as he falls into a soft-pop sound that just doesn’t fit the singer’s personna.
This song, one of several collaboration tracks, is one of my personal favorites, even though perhaps not completely true to the sound one mosts associates with Eminem.
Enjoy.
